Paper Planes

With a big smile, I watched as a young boy on the train enthusiastically made a paper plane.

Why was my smile big?
Well, I was already smiling and as smiling is infectious, his sweet enthusiasm amplified mine. Like attracts like. I was already feeling good and drew this playful character to me. This little boy reminded me of the childlike enthusiasm I often display.

Those who know me, know I’m a big kid. When I had my daughter at 22, my mother said I was a baby with a baby. My response to that was “and I’m never growing up!”
This young boy crossed my path today because I was vibrating at happy and enthusiastic. Why? Because I chose to! Simple!
I remembered back to when I was his age (about 9) and how I often made paper planes.

I loved the idea of flight.

Other positive memories of my childhood flooded in. I remembered climbing the massive rock next door. We lived on the top of a hill that felt like a mini mountain. The land next door was soon to be levelled for the building of a new home. Damn! It was my haven to escape. I loved pretending I was older and mountain climbing overseas.
Wow … It was evident back then that I was an adventure seeker and that one day I would love flying and travelling.

Yes, I’m like a kid on Christmas Eve the night before a flight!
I’ve always been a daydreamer. Once ridiculed, daydreaming is now acknowledged as a tool in the creative fields. Social awareness of the importance of imagination is setting many people free.
If it wasn’t for someone daydreaming of flying like a bird, aircraft would not have been created. Someone imagined the car before one was put together. And I wonder how many firemen imagined being Superman as children?

We can learn a lot from children. They are often happy. They always want to have fun. They have huge imaginations and they believe in the unseen amazing. They don’t stress over tomorrow, because their focus is always on the present.

What a gift it is to be childlike! Yep, I’m never growing up!
